BUY A BRICK -

Rebuilding lives a brick at a time

THE CONTEXT

Ongoing terrorist attacks in Northern Nigeria have left thousands of children orphaned and women widowed, with little to no access to the support systems needed to survive and recover. The region of Kaduna State sits at the heart of this crisis, where instability and the absence of basic resources have become the norm.

The nearest hospital is 70 miles away. For most families, that distance is insurmountable because:

  •  Access to transportation is severely limited and can be expensive
  • Roads are unsafe, with a significant risk of kidnapping along key travel routes

When families do reach care, the cost of healthcare is an additional barrier.

THE VISION

The El Roi Center for Women and Children Empowerment is a God-sized response to a God-seen crisis. “El Roi”—the God who sees—names what this project is about: demonstrating, in brick and mortar and in human hands, that people in the region are not forgotten.

The vision is to build a facility that provides safe, accessible medical care, ending the impossible choice between dangerous travel and no care at all.

While there are needs for education and safe housing for widows and orphans, healthcare is the most urgent unmet need, and completing the clinic creates the foundation on which all other services will grow. Projected completion: under two years from full funding.

True stories from individuals in the community:

Two men shared the burden of watching

their wives battle cancer, with no access to adequate

care. Simply being present forged a connection that led

them to an oncologist who could guide their treatment.

Another young leader shared about how he lost his

child because his wife, in labor, could not reach medical

care in time. They waited until morning—tragically, it

was too late. These are not just stories. They reflect

the daily realities of the families and children we seek

to serve.
